About Jerrad
Jerrad grew up around his mother's ceramics studio — watching raw material become functional form, traveling to trade shows, spending more time making things than studying for exams. When he graduated from Houghton College in 1998, he majored in business but spent most of his time in the art studio. The two impulses — craft and commerce — have been in productive tension ever since.
A friend introduced him to concrete shortly after graduation, and it clicked immediately. The scale was bigger than ceramics. The material was harder and more demanding. And it offered something ceramic mugs didn't: a real way to make a living while making things worth making.
He started the firm in New Jersey, working in New York City and the Hamptons on commercial projects for clients including Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. An avid snowboarder, he kept returning to Montana — until 2008, when he moved to Bozeman and started over from scratch, mid-recession. He spent that slow period building relationships with the architects and designers who would define his work for the next decade and a half.
Today, Elements Concrete works with architects, designers, and builders across the Big Sky, Park City, and Jackson Hole triangle. Jerrad is known for pieces that blur the line between concrete and fine art: monolithic pours that read a foot thick at only two inches, hand-troweled surfaces, and innovations like cast-in-place board-form veneer and a modified rammed earth built to survive Mountain West winters. Architects tend to describe the result simply as cast stone.

His ability to successfully blend artistry with function is rare in our industry. On every project where we've worked together, he has delivered even more than he promised. I almost hesitate to recommend him, because we'd like to keep him to ourselves!!
